Virtually Jane - July 2020

Virtually Jane

JASNA News Sept 2019-4.png

As we’ve learned, Jane knew a thing or two about quarantine and isolation. Whether it’s Pride and Prejudice’s Jane Bennet convalescing at the Bingley home, or Marianne Dashwood battling a putrid fever in Sense and Sensibility, Austen understood the impact of ill health on the patient and those around them.

Finding ways to take care and keep busy during those times was also central to these episodes too. Letter writing, cards, reading, and other activities all feature as ways to pass the time.

For those who are looking for ways to engage with Jane’s work while at home we can go beyond just her books and take a tour of the world of Jane, virtually.

From keeping up with the latest in the JASNA Newsletter, visiting Chawton House virtually, taking in online festivals, and even a trip to Bath thanks to virtual walking tours, we’ll travel Jane country via the internet together.

To learn more join us for a very special virtual Members Meeting on July 16th at 7:00pm via Zoom.

Hosted by JASNA Calgary webmaster Luisa, she’ll guide you through a highlight of virtual tours and resources to keep you engaged with the Jane community here and around the world.

We’re sure Jane would approve.
