Calgary’s favourite improv troupe, The Kinkonauts, were at it again.  Back in February 29th, 2020, during their epic 26 hour Improve Marathon, with a fun Regency era improv show.

Suitor or Suitability promised to be a fun Jane inspired laugh. From their website; “We cordially invite you to a Regency Romance Competition. It’s Jane Austen meets The Dating Game. Hold my tea!”.

Admission was by donation (suggested amount $10 per show) and funds raised support their Reactor Improv Festival, which brings some of the world’s best improvisers to Calgary. You can still donate online or at the door when you attend one of their shows.

In February of 2018 a few Jasna members enjoyed tea with the cast of Persuasion, a play performed by Calgary's Workshop Theatre. Adapted by: Jennifer Le Blanc
Directed by: Shelby Nicol: Twenty-seven-year-old Anne Elliot is Austen’s most adult heroine. Eight years before the story proper begins, she is happily betrothed to a naval officer, Frederick Wentworth, but she precipitously breaks off the engagement when persuaded by her friend Lady Russell that such a match is unworthy. The breakup produces in Anne a deep and long-lasting regret. When later Wentworth returns from sea a rich and successful captain, he finds Anne’s family on the brink of financial ruin and his own sister a tenant in Kellynch Hall, the Elliot estate. All the tension of the novel revolves around one question: Will Anne and Wentworth be reunited in their love?

"It was a wonderful interpretation of Jane Austen’s novel and we thoroughly enjoyed the production!"
